One of the benefits of a properly functioning democracy is minority rights and majority rule.
The United States Senate wasn't designed to be a majority-rule institution. It was designed to include and accommodate the rights of the minority in small states as well as large states.
To say that majorities, as such, have a right to rule minorities, is equivalent to saying that minorities have, and ought to have, no rights, except such as majorities please to allow them.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.
Minority views expressed in films simply don't sell tickets.
America did not invent human rights. In a very real sense human rights invented America.
