US, MILITARY IN COLOMBIA
In the fall of 2009, U.S. and Colombian
officials signed an agreement, granting
the U.S. armed forces access to seven
Colombian military bases for ten years.
Details of the bases agreement:
"Opportunity for conducting full spectrum
operations throughout South America"
against threats not only from drug trade
and guerrilla movements, but also from
"anti-IJ.S. governments" in the region.*
The agreement operates from the same
failed military mindset that has given rise
to the School of the Americas (SON
WHINSEC). The purpose of the bases is
to ensure U.S. control over the region
through military means.
